Substance Abuse Services

Astra Behavioral Health is now offering Substance Abuse Treatment Services at our Elizabethtown and Bardstown locations. Services will include:

  • Psychiatric Evaluation
  • Management of co-occurring disorders
  • Medication Assisted Treatment with use of Vivitrol, Suboxone, Campral, and others as indicated
  • Individual Counseling
  • Intensive Outpatient Program
  • Case Management

Psychiatric Evaluation- performed by a Psychiatrist or Nurse Practitioner with specialized training in the treatment of substance use disorders. Determines diagnosis, eligibility, and level of care.The prescriber will manage co-occurring disorders.

Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)-the use of medications in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies for the treatment of substance use disorders. This may include the use of Suboxone, Vivitrol, Acamprosate and other medications. Patients must have active Substance Use Disorder and meet criteria for the program. WE DO NOT PRESCRIBE METHADONE AT THIS CLINIC. PATIENTS SEEKING METHADONE THERAPY NEED TO SEEK A LICENSED MEHTADONE CLINIC.

Individual Counseling- Assessments will be scheduled with a therapist to determine the program eligibility and the appropriate level of care. Weekly individual therapy is recommended.

The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) - for those who do not require more intense treatment such as medically supervised detox. IOP Services are required if patient is using medication assisted treatment. The IOP is 3 hours per day, 3 days per week. Patients are expected to attend all 9 hours per week for a total of 8 weeks.

Targeted Case Management (TCM) - Targeted Case Management services include making referrals to needed resources, developing support systems, advocating for the patient, assisting with setting goals, assisting with maintaining compliance.
